Safeguarding People, Achieving Design Excellence

The production of a groundbreaking series of films affirming great design whilst safeguarding people working in construction has been launched. The films are aimed at architects (including trainees) and other construction professionals who have a key role in creating safe, sustainable and buildable designs.
The series is not for profit and the first film will be provided to RIBA registered universities for free to get the thinking embedded into the next generation of designers. The film series has the endorsement of the RIBA President, Sunand Prasad.
To produce a series of seven DVDs focused on construction design
health and safety such that the creativity and skills of the current
and next generation of architects are more quickly, and fully,
informed.
The team is determined to deliver this within a minimal timescale
and hold purchase costs for the first version of the films at low
levels ( also free to RIBA registered colleges ) such that no time
is wasted in enhancing industry efforts to reduce death and serious
injury.
We truly hope that this project will inspire young architects to
drive for the highest standards in safeguarding people engaged in
the construction and maintenance of buildings.
The films have been commissioned by a new production team, SquaredCircle. The team comprises four industry health and safety specialists: Mark Poole, BBC; Peter Caplehorn, RIBA; Shelley Atkinson-Frost, Construction Confederation; Tom Harper, Constructing Excellence, South West with support from the Working Well Together construction industry health and safety campaign.
